Football Roundup: Denver Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

During a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to secure the ugly win.

Defensive Performance Wins Contest

Even with recording nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after conceding a two-point play in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.

The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard kick with just over five minutes left.

Record Difficulties for Jets Attack

In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a potential winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.

Fields had difficulties all game, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with negative ten net yards passing, the lowest in any game since 1998.

"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented following the contest.
