FIFA's President, The US Leader and this Pursuit for Peace: An Association Football Initiative

'MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVES … DIVERSE VIEWPOINTS …'

When María Corina Machado was awarded this year's prestigious peace award for her "tireless efforts advocating for political freedoms", the American president reacted displaying the kind of magnanimous behavior you would anticipate. Having persistently run a push of self-promotion to ensure he won it himself, the president quickly asserted credit for the South American activist's triumph, enumerated his own self-proclaimed and often questionable successes in the area of world conflict resolution and criticized the authority of the awarding body who determined not to present the medal, financial compensation and certificate to him.

While protection considerations mean it has yet to be determined if the newly crowned Nobel laureate will come forward from hiding to pick up her accolade personally at the Oslo ceremony in the final month, an especially obsequious Fifa president appears hell-bent on taking her attention nonetheless. Certainly, the FIFA president has chosen to award a recognition for harmony of his own creation in facing a worldwide broadcast audience of countless numbers worldwide sports followers in the preceding days in Washington.

A man who has for years promoted the significance of maintaining political matters away from football, especially when they are the kind of political positions he deems awkward or simply doesn't like, the organization's head used his platform at the American corporate gathering in Miami to advocate his position about the capacity of football to connect people of all races and faith, notably those who have a spare $5,000-plus available to buy variable cost Global Soccer Tournament admissions.

"In a progressively uncertain and fragmented international society, it's fundamental to appreciate the remarkable contribution of people who labor diligently to stop disputes and bring people together in a spirit of peace", he parped. "The sport stands for unity and acting for the complete football community, the FIFA Harmony Award – Soccer Connects Globally will celebrate the significant efforts of those individuals who bring together individuals, offering confidence for coming years."

But who might he reference? While the football official was prudent not to offer clear signals concerning the identity of the initial prize's selected honoree, he went on to transition into a probably separate and flattering homage to his existing Best Friend Forever (Or At Least Until August Next Year), Trump. His comments certainly had the planned result. Internationally, the most doubtful among us were aligned in declaring they knew precisely who would be winning the Pretend Peace Prize, with certain individuals even going so far as make entirely baseless claims that the legally adjudicated and competitive misconduct man-baby under consideration might possibly forced the FIFA head to develop it simply to compensate for the president's perception of unfairness at not obtaining the authentic award.

As plausible a scenario as it appears, The Sports Publication begs to differ, particularly since in the preceding period the growingly preposterous soccer administrator has maneuvered himself so far into the president's favor that it's quite possible this recent scheme was truly his own idea.

And while it's reasonable to suppose it remains beyond the president's limited wit to present the ultimate surprise by presenting the organization's inaugural (and perhaps final) peace prize to the environmental campaigner, the Ukrainian leader or that member of the Italian team's technical team who intervened between Ademola Lookman and the coach to prevent a disagreeable Bigger Cup touchline flare-up, one might desire the English defender and his Chelsea teammates are asked to attend to the capital dressed in gear to conduct a retaliatory takeover of the leader's award event.

That particular golden questionable trophy, or whichever additional similarly suitable bauble Infantino chooses to present the American president for his contributions to global peace and unity, would sufficiently offset the championship award he infamously appropriated and kept during the international club championship presentation ceremony.

"A person who worked a lot with music celebrities informed me that the age that they become renown is the age they stay for all their future years. I thought: 'That doesn't promise favorably for me.' I became subject to media attention at 16 and placed in front of the press. You grow up, you start a family, but you continue as a soccer player. And then, abruptly, it stops but your entire persona is still wrapped up in it" – the former footballer is on good form in a cracking conversation.
