Several people sustained injuries when a Delta aircraft from LA to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence on Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier told. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they treated five patients, and transported three of them to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that such as spinal discomfort and headaches. The patients' ages were between their 30s to 70s.
This marks the latest incident of planes experiencing severe turbulence, with experts saying that shifting climate patterns is a key driver.
The aircraft was carrying 245 passengers and 15 crew members on the aircraft, the representative added, stating that the plane touched down "safely" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday.
Paramedics said they got a call just a mere three minutes before the plane touched down, and ambulances were ready and waiting at the airport.
